You can take it a step further: Right click on the taskbar and make sure “Lock the taskbar” is NOT checked. Drag the taskbar to the top of the screen and let go. Then right click on the task bar again and go to “Properties”. Make sure the “autohide” feature is checked then exit back to the desktop and click anywhere on it. The taskbar will slide up out of view and Voila!–a totally unresponsive desktop.
Never thought of that… Wonder how many times people will restart the comp trying to “unfreeze” it :P
