UltraDefrag is a free disk defragmenter for Windows XP, NT & Vista. It works very fast since the defragmentation is done by kernel level drivers. It also can also be run during boot up time, this allows for faster defragmentation while also defragmenting system files.

The disk defragmenter can be run in single file, multiple folders or full drive modes. It can then generate a list of files that are fragmented. There is also a portable version of the software for techies on the move.

    @Alfred O&O does have a free version; although, I don’t think it is fully featured. I wouldn’t pay for one myself!

    Interesting, thanks for the info. I like that you can run the defrag on the start-up that will make things a lot easier.

    hmmm both the software mentioned above are paid !
    why would you want to spend money on stuff that can be done for free…

    This blog tries to give its readers freeware or opensource as much as possible, so I wouldn’t recommend spending money on software to defrag a comp just ain’t worth it.

    I like Diskeeper the best for defrag. It’s so easy to use lol…just install it and turn it to ‘auto’. The best part is, it also defrags system files and other metadata, even in low space. Since putting Diskeeper 2009 on my system, I’ve never had to defrag anything, ever…all my 4 drives show nearly zero fragmentation whenever I check :)
