Google unveils its secret server design
Google has finally revealed its server design, which is has kept a secret until now. While most companies buy servers from big companies, Google builds its own servers. The uniqueness of Google’s servers lie in its inbuilt 12V battery supply power. While normal servers depend on UPS to supply alternate power this design is much cheaper to implement. The company is trying to improve its energy efficiency and says that this model has enabled it to reach 99.9% efficiency.
The servers are made up of two processors, two hard drives, eight memory sticks and a Gigabyte motherboard.
The data centers are made of shipping containers packed with 1,160 servers each and many containers forming a data center.
